Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has penned a note on social media in celebration of his sister Gbemisola on her 58th birthday.
Saraki’s gesture indicates that all is now well between the siblings who were at loggerheads for several years.
Their feud started some years back after Saraki pushed against his father Olusola Saraki’s wish for Gbemisola to be governor of Kwara State.
Saraki instead supported his longtime friend Abdulfatah Ahmed to succeed him.
The siblings’ rivalry was compounded in 2018 when Gbemisola indicated she wanted to take Saraki’s Kwara Central Senatorial District seat.
Islamic cleric Sheikh Sulaimon Onikijipa attempted to reconcile them but it did not last.
They, however, finally put their differences aside when they organised the 10th memorial anniversary of their father in Kwara State last year.
Last December, Gbemisola, who is also the minister of state for mines and steel, celebrated her brother on his 60th birthday for the first time in a long while.
Celebrating her brother with a throwback picture of both of them, she wrote: “My dearest Buki, remember this, the good old days when we were just starting out. Now it’s the big 6-0! Wow! How time flies. Congratulations! Happy birthday. Wishing you greater years ahead. May Allah SWT continue to guide, protect and bless you now and always. Love, Gbems.”
On Wednesday, Saraki prayed for his sister that Allah would bless all her endeavours.
“Dear Gbemi, Happy Birthday! As you celebrate another year, I pray that the Almighty showers you with abundant blessings, including happiness, good health, and success in all your endeavours,” he wrote.
