Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has congratulated the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, on his 60th anniversary on the throne.
The 85-year-old monarch clocked 60 on the throne on Thursday.
Saraki tweeted on Friday saying the traditional ruler has served as a role model for generations.
“I offer my heartfelt congratulations to the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of his coronation,” he said.
“During his reign as Oba, he has upheld the ideals and traditions of Ijebuland and has served as an ideal role model for generations.”
The former Kwara State governor prayed for good health on Oba Adetona “to lead Ijebu land and contribute to the development of Ogun State, in particular, and Nigeria, in general.”
Oba Adetona was enthroned as the Awujale of Ijebu Kingdom on April 2, 1960, at age 26.
He is Nigeria’s longest-reigning monarch at age 85.
