Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC (ABS FC) have won promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after beating close rivals, Gateway FC 4-1, in a replay on Wednesday evening.
ABS took the lead on the stroke of half-time through Otegbeye Ajibola, who later grabbed his brace 24 minutes later.
Ibrahim Abdulah side-footed effort made it three in the 78th minute before Yahuza Bala coolly converted from the spot to register a consolation goal nine minutes later for the visitors.
However, ABS weren’t done yet. Mohammed Mohammed made it 4-1 in favour of the home team with a stunning strike.
ABS FC is owned by Senate President Bukola Saraki, who bought the club in 2011 and handed it over to son, Sene Saraki, as chairman.
After about three years in the lower ranks, ABS has staged a remarkable comeback to the top flight.
What this implies is that ABS will join Kwara United as two teams from Kwara State in the NPFL next season.
The Ilorin-based outfit finished top of Division B2 of the Nigeria National League (NNL) with 24 points, one and three points ahead of second and third placed Bayelsa United and Gateway respectively.
ABS will now join Remo Stars, Katsina United and Gombe United who confirmed their promotion to the elite division long ago.
