Wife of the Senate President, Toyin Saraki, clocked 53 on Wednesday with renewed commitment to promote the health of babies and their mothers.
In a post she shared on Instagram, the mother-of-four wrote: “Each year as I mark my birthday, I reflect anew on the world around me, and how I can improve outcomes for pregnant women and their newborns.”
The founder and president of Wellbeing Foundation Africa (WBFA) added that while her thoughts and prayers are with victims of recent natural disasters in Benue, Houston and Sierra Leone, she remains committed to empowering safe births around the world.
In another post, Mrs Saraki is seen with her husband, Bukola Saraki, writing that she is thankful “for life, love, peace, productivity, His Grace, His Mercy, which abides always.”
Born into the Ojora and Adele royal families of Lagos, Mrs Saraki is an advocate of Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5 in Nigeria, with a mission to reduce the rate of maternal and infant mortality.
She launched a successful social media campaign through Wellbeing Foundation Africa in 2012 called #MaternalMonday to raise awareness on key issues in maternal, newborn and child health in Africa.
