A Kano State High Court on Thursday sentenced a school proprietor Abdulmalik Tanko to death for the abduction and murder of five-year-old pupil, Hanifa Abubakar.
The court also handed down same sentence to Hashim Isyaku.
Tanko, who was the prime suspect in the criminal charges, and Isyaku, were found guilty of four charges bordering on kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, concealment and criminal conspiracy and convicted to death.
However, the third defendant, Fatima Musa, who was only found guilty of attempted kidnapping and criminal conspiracy was sentenced to two years imprisonment.
Tanko is the proprietor of Nobel Kids Academy, Kwanar Dakata in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, the school that the late Hanifa attended.
Justice Usman Na’abba ruled that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that the defendants criminally conspired to abduct and kill Hanifa.
