The school, where the body of five-year-old Hanifa Abubakar was buried in Kwanar Dakata community, Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, has been razed.
It was learnt that angry youths set Noble Kids Comprehensive College on fire early Monday.
Hanifa was kidnapped late last year while returning from an Islamic school. She was killed afterwards.
Proprietor of the school Abdulmalik Tanko told the press following his arrest last week that he killed Hanifa on December 18, 2021, having realised that the victim had recognised him.
Many have called on the justice system to proffer capital punishment on him. First lady Aisha Buhari also endorsed the calls, saying it would serve as a deterrent to others.
Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has since sealed up the school and withdrawn its license.
According to the governor, the government is terribly disturbed that people entrusted with the care of children only turn out to be their murderers.
Ganduje added that his administration has been in touch with Hanifa’s family and would remain so until justice prevails in the case.
President Muhammadu Buhari, on his part, praised the law enforcement arms and urged them to do a good job to ensure that the case against the suspects is proven beyond doubt.
He also expressed the nation’s condolences to Hanifa’s family, saying Nigerians had hoped for her to return home alive and well.
