A former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team Abdulrasheed Maina has been arrested in Niger Republic.
Maina was arrested by Nigerian security operatives on Monday, according to a top security officer, PUNCH reports.
A Federal High Court in Abuja had ordered Maina’s arrest after he jumped bail in his N2 billion money laundering trial.
Maina has not been seen in court since September 29.
His disappearance forced the court to order the remand of his surety Senator Ali Ndume last Monday.
The court, however, granted bail to the Borno South senator last Friday.
Maina’s prosecutor, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), had earlier informed the court that it sought the assistance of the United States and Niger Republic for the arrest of Maina.
EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren could not be reached for comment on Monday.
