Wife of the Governor of Ogun State, Olufunso Amosun, practically lived up to expectations as a holder of Honorary Doctorate degree on Friday, August 19, 2016 as she taught some students on the basics of Green Education.
The governor’s wife set aside her paraphernalia of office as she became a classroom teacher at the ongoing Ogun State Summer Camp, holding at the State Model School in Awowo, Ewekoro Local Government area of the State.
Mrs. Amosun explained to the students the need for all hands to be on deck to preserve our environment.
The governor’s wife, who was the guest lecturer at the ongoing Ogun State Summer School Camp, said environmental issues have become a serious issue, considering the environmental challenges confronting the present generation.
According to her, “The earth is experiencing global warming as a result of our individual lifestyle. The use of non-recycling plastics, indiscriminate waste disposal and cutting down of trees without replacing them has been a major challenge to our health and the environment. I want to encourage you not to be wasteful but seize every opportunity to think of what you can do to save the environment.”
Mrs. Amosun read from her book titled: ‘Green Education for the the Youth’ and encouraged the students to join in the crusade to take actions through tree planting and waste management to reduce air pollution and improve the quality of lives of the people.
It’s a memorable day for the students as they listened with rapt attention to tap from the governor’s wife’s repertoire of wisdom and knowledge on Green Education.
