Social media celebrity, Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha, who is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged fraud had visited Mecca, Saudi Arabia in May.
The self-acclaimed king of Nigerian bureau de change had visited Mecca to perform Hajj.

Mompha’s posh lifestyle made him a darling of Instagram users.
Posting a picture of himself on May 31 on Instagram during his trip to Mecca, Mompha prayed for the “best of manners.”
“Oh Allah, on this blessed Friday and last of the month, we ask you to guide us to the best of manners. Grant us sound faith and conviction, forgive all our sins; the major and those done privately and openly!! Grant our soul its strength and purify it for you have complete power over it!” he wrote.
News of Mompha’s arrest began as a rumour on social media following a tweet by controversial self-styled investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo.

The EFCC later on Tuesday confirmed that it had arrested Mompha through a joint operation with INTERPOL.
Details of the Instagram celebrity’s arrest, especially the amount and illicit trade involved, could not be confirmed at press time.
