Veteran actor Segun Arinze has expressed frustration over what he describes as the irresponsibility of some Nigerian airlines, calling for urgent reforms in the aviation sector.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Arinze recounted his frustrating experience on a recent trip from Lagos to Benin.
According to him, he travelled from Lagos to Benin with Green Africa but was informed before departure that the airline would not be flying for three days due to maintenance, foreclosing his chances of returning with the carrier.
For his return trip to Lagos, he purchased a direct ticket from Arik Air.
However, upon arriving at Benin Airport, passengers were informed that the Arik flight would make an unscheduled stop in Port Harcourt to drop and pick up passengers before heading to Lagos, a detail not disclosed at the time of booking.
Expressing his anger in the caption of his post, he wrote: “What kind of madness is that? You didn’t tell me at the point of buying the ticket that you would fly to PH? Only to tell me when I was about checking in Benin. Nigerian Airlines needs to stop taking passengers for granted. They are taking the piss!!!”
Arinze also called on Nigeria’s minister of aviation and aerospace development Festus Keyamo to take action against the poor services offered by Nigerian airlines, urging the government to ensure better regulations and accountability in the sector.
