The Senate has requested the Federal Government to rename the Ibadan Airport after a former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi.
Ajimobi died last month from complications arising from the coronavirus disease.
The upper legislative chambers, during plenary on Tuesday, urged the Federal Government to immortalise the former senator.
It also resolved to send a high-powered delegation to commiserate with the family, government and people of Oyo State on Ajimobi’s demise.
They also observed a minute silence to honour the deceased.
These resolutions of the Senate followed a point of order moved by Senator Abdulfatai Buhari (Oyo North), urging the Senate to pay tribute to Ajimobi.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan had lawmakers approve the motion through voice vote.
