Senate confirms Omolola Oloworaran as PENCOM DG

The Senate has confirmed Omolola Oloworaran as director-general of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM). 

Her confirmation on Thursday followed President Bola Tinubu’s nomination request which was reviewed and approved by the Senate after adopting the report presented by the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service. 

Chairman of the committee and a representative of Ekiti North Senatorial District Senator Cyril Fasuyi highlighted during plenary that Oloworaran fulfilled all legal requirements under the Pension Reform Act 2014 (Act No. 4). Specifically, she met the conditions outlined in sections 19 (2), (5), (6), and 26 of the Act. 

Fasuyi commended Oloworaran’s qualifications, stating that she is “a qualified, fit and proper person suitable for appointment as director-general of the National Pension Commission.”

The Senate confirmed the appointment via a voice vote conducted by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin who presided over the plenary session.
