Senate issues arrest warrant against Julius Berger MD/CEO Lubasch

Senate President Godswill Akpabio

The Senate on Thursday directed Senate President Godswill Akpabio to issue a warrant of arrest for the managing director/CEO of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc Peer Lubasch, compelling him to appear before its committee on works at a yet-to-be-specified date.

This decision came after the Senate considered a motion raised by Minority Whip Senator Osita Ngwu (PDP-Enugu West), co-sponsored by Senators Asuquo Ekpeyong (APC-Cross River South) and Barinada Mpigi (PDP-Rivers South East), during plenary.

Ngwu informed the chamber that Julius Berger Plc repeatedly failed to appear before the Senate Committee on Works to address concerns over abandoned projects and an alarming contract cost variation from N54 billion to N195 billion.

In response, Akpabio stated that the specific date for the warrant of arrest would be included in the directive.
