Ex-governor of Gombe State Senator Danjuma Goje faced attacks from suspected thugs and was prevented from entering Gombe the state capital, his media aide Lilian Nworie said on Friday.
Nworie told journalists in Abuja that Goje’s vehicles were hit with dangerous weapons. The federal lawmaker was in Gombe for a private engagement.
“Senator Goje had a serious encounter with some political thugs who burnt tyres on the main road as he was about to enter the state capital around International Conference Centre on the Bauchi-Gombe Road,” Nworie said.
She alleged that policemen around the area “refused to call the thugs to order.”
Goje and the incumbent governor Inuwa Yahaya are not on good terms.
