A senior official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahadi Hassan, has been kidnapped in Jigawa State.
Mr Hassan, a pension desk officer of the commission in Jigawa, has been missing since March 15.
Hassan was kidnapped by gunmen along Gwiwa road, Gwiwa LGA.
INEC head of department, voter education and publicity, John Kaiwa, confirmed the incident on Tuesday.
The police in Jigawa have also confirmed the incident. Police commissioner, Bala Zama, contacted the state’s resident electoral commissioner (REC), Mahmoud Isah, over the incident.
Mr Isah told journalists in Dutse, the state capital, that the kidnappers have contacted the family and are asking for a ransom before his release.
