Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, has corrected the wrong impression created in a section of the media that he has been nominated for a Grammy award.

The 35-year-old had over the weekend posted the cover of his Black Times album on Instagram with a call that his Grammy voting friends should consider it for nomination in the Best World Music Album category.

The post was misunderstood by many to mean the son of legendary Fela Kuti had been nominated for the prestigious award.

Setting the record straight, Seun in another Instagram post on Tuesday said explicitly that: “This is NOT A NOMINATION.”

He went on to explain that his earlier post was a call on his friends in the Recording Academy to vote for his album since it is being considered for a Grammy.

Sweet as the inaccurate stories may sound, Seun added that he could not let bloggers spread inaccurate stories.

“Nominations will be announced in December. We will celebrate then,” he wrote.

The 61st Grammy award is scheduled to hold in February 2019.

Seun’s brother, Femi Kuti, has bagged four Grammy nominations in the World Music Category in the past.

He got his first nomination in 2003 for the album Fight to Win. Subsequent nominations came in 2010, 2012 and 2013.

Femi is yet to win a Grammy.
