While very few celebrities manage to weather the storm of a public relationship, many are not so lucky. Here are seven celebrity relationships that flunked.
- Yvonne Nelson and Iyanya
Iyanya and Yvonne Nelson were the envy of many while their romance lasted in 2012. The singer even included the actress’ name in the lyrics of the hit track ‘Ur Waist’. “Yvonne Nelson, I have your medicine,” he sang. Many might have thought the love was strong but unfortunately the two ended things on a very sour note with Yvonne subsequently saying Nigerian men can lie for Africa.
- Ebube Nwagbo and Kcee
Nollywood actress, Ebube Nwagbo, and Limpopo singer, Kcee were on and off for years and even got engaged at some point. But in 2010, they finally broke up as Kcee got married and Ebube became a fixture on the social scene. Unfortunately Kcee’s marriage did not last very long. Maybe he missed Ebube.
- Eva Alordiah and Ice Prince
This was meant to be a love affair made in hip hop heaven. Ice Prince revealed to Hip TV in 2014 that fellow rapper Eva Alordiah was his first girlfriend when he came to Lagos. He also revealed that if the opportunity came around another time, he would still date the entrepreneur. Well, she is gone now and Ice Prince has long made a switch.
- Jim Iyke and Steph-Nora Okere
Jim Iyke is what many call bad boy extraordinaire. Apparently Jim and fellow Nollywood star Steph Nora-Okere dated for a while. In an interview with Encomium in April 2013, Steph admitted that she had in fact dated Jim and was still in love with him.
- Jim Iyke and Nadia Buari
Theirs was a story everyone thought will end differently. Jim and Nadia broke up after 11 months of dating and showing off on social media. Nadia is currently the mother to twins while Jim welcomed a baby boy with Lithuanian girlfriend Dana Kinduryte in September, 2015.
- Stephanie Okereke and Chikelue Iloenyosi
Before Stephanie Okereke became happily married to her husband Linus Idahosa, she was involved in a top celebrity relationship with Super Eagles player, Chikelue Iloenyosi. The two got married in 2004 but had their marriage annulled in 2008 following reports that the footballer was already married to another woman in the United States.
- Ubi Franklin and Emma Nyra
Triple MG CEO, Ubi Franklin, and former label act, Emma Nyra, broke up in the worst way ever. Reports have it that the couple who were an item for three years ended things sorely as a result of Ubi’s constant physical abuse of Emma. At the time, Ubi’s now wife, Lilian Esoro, broke off her engagement to him because of the rumour. Currently, Ubi is happily married legally to Lilian Esoro while Emma Nyra has relocated to the United States of America and is focusing on her career.
