Several students have been reportedly killed following the collapse of a bridge at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Gubi Campus, Bauchi State on Monday night.
It is suggested that as much as five students were killed in the incident after a heavy downpour.
The bridge is said to link classes with the hostels.
Students of the university are currently undergoing their 1st-semester examination.
“We learnt that there was a sudden disaster which happened at ATBU, Gubi Campus, which affected many of our students, and there might be loss of lives. Please let’s pray for them, and anyone with relatives, brothers, sisters should make an enquiry about his or her well-being,” a student of the university posted on Facebook.
ATBU spokesman, Andee Iheme, said on Tuesday that a press briefing would be held on the incident after an emergency Senate meeting.
