Senator Elisha Abbo has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Adamawa North lawmaker announced his defection in a letter addressed to the Senate.
His letter was read aloud by Senate President Ahmad Lawan during Wednesday’s plenary session.
Abbo explained in the letter that he decided to move to the APC because of the alleged mismanagement of the PDP in Adamawa by Governor Umaru Fintiri.
Abbo was caught on CCTV assaulting a woman at a sex toy shop in Wuse 2, Abuja in 2019.
The senator was ordered by Justice Samira Bature of the FCT High Court in a civil suit filed by the victim to pay N50million and publish an apology to her. This came after Abbo won the criminal case instituted against him by the police before a Chief Magistrate Court in Zuba.
He filed an appeal against the FCT High Court judgment in October.
