Former president of the National Youth Council of Nigeria Bello Shagari has declared his ambition to contest for the chairmanship seat of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
Mr Shagari declared his ambition in a tweet on Friday.
He wrote: “I spent the last couple of years in activism & advocacy for youth inclusion. Today, I have decided to practice what I preached to bring you #TheChangeYouveBeenWaitingFor. I am running for @AmacLg.”
Shagari, who is also the grandson of Nigeria’s late former president Shehu Shagari, is contesting for the position under the All Progressives Congress.
Presidential aide Bashir Ahmad wished him well on Twitter.
“My brother and friend Bello Shagari @Belshagy contesting for Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship under our great party, APC. My very best wishes, Allah ya bada nasara,” he wrote.
Shagari was elected president of the NYCN at the Unity Congress in Gombe State in 2018. Following in-house crisis, he became the first NYCN president to voluntarily resign in March 2020.
