The man who is promoting his new single ‘Go F**k Yourself’ told Miami New Times the terrorists could connect with his music on an emotional level.
“If you’re able to cut a man’s head off, you’re sick,” the Kingston-born artiste said.
“But right, music evokes emotion. So if they’re listening to Shaggy music or reggae music, they’re not going to want to cut somebody’s head off.”
He spoke further on the therapeutic value of his music: “There’s two things you want to do when you listen to reggae: You get somebody pregnant, or you’re f***ing high.
“High people don’t want to kill nothing; they want to love. They need to bag some Jamaican weed and distribute it among Isis.
“I guarantee there won’t be any more wars out there.”
Shaggy, real name Orville Richard Burell, has a military background – he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and worked as a field artillery cannon crewman. He even served in the Gulf War.
But since his army days he has focused primarily on his music, including hits ‘Oh Carolina’, ‘In the Summertime’, ‘Mr Boombastic’, ‘Angel’ and the cheating man anthem ‘It Wasn’t Me’.
The 46-year-old visited Nigeria in December 2001 to perform in the now rested annual Star Mega Jam in Lagos and Port Harcourt.
