Senator Shehu Sani has mocked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and its acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu, over the reported arrest of the latter on Monday by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Sani is facing a two-count charge bordering on bribery and advanced fee fraud brought against him by the EFCC.
In a tweet on Monday, the former Kaduna South legislator, without mentioning names, suggested that Mr Magu and the EFCC got a piece of their own medicine.
He alleged that the anti-graft agency was in the habit of misinforming the public.
“They will invite you with a letter and when you honour the invitation, they will feed the media with the news that you have been arrested in order to scandalize you. Now it returns to them,” wrote Sani.
Following media reports that Magu was arrested, the DSS released a statement saying they did not arrest him.
Sani, however, was reported to have been arrested by the EFCC last December to face bribery charges. The former senator saw the new year in detention.
