A member of the House of Representatives Shina Peller has bought a sports utility vehicle (SUV) reportedly valued at N186 million.
Peller, who represents Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency of Oyo State, took delivery of the automobile in early February, reports The Nation.
The newspaper learnt that the Toyota Land Cruiser VXR is bulletproof and was purposely acquired for political purposes.
Last year, several high-profile persons including Senator Ifeanyi Ubah and Apostle Johnson Suleman were attacked by gunmen but saved by bulletproof vehicles.
Peller revealed there was an attempt to assassinate him on his way from Ibadan to Oke Ogun on May 29, 2022. He left the All Progressives Congress in June 2022 when he lost the primary election for Oyo North Senatorial District.
After leaving the APC, the Club Quilox owner joined Accord Party but lost to incumbent Senator Fatai Buhari of the APC at the February 25 polls.
The newspaper further learnt that one of the things that informed Peller’s decision to settle for a bulletproof car is the perceived tension in the senatorial district.
