It targeted the Trade Fair Complex located on Zoo Road in the ancient city.
The police in a tweet said the security cordon around the complex and Shoprite mall forced the bomber to detonate her vest outside the target.
The report said a fresh explosion came a little less than five hours after the first bomb occurred at the NNPC filing station on Monday, tearing through the Hotoro area of the city and killing no fewer than five persons.
Like the first, police authorities said the second explosion was detonated by a female suicide bomber said to be about 18 years old.
The bomber died instantly and wounded several others.
