Shooting Stars Sports Club has confirmed the death of its general manager Rasheed Balogun at the age of 62.
“After a long battle with an undisclosed illness for months, RASHEED BALOGUN finally succumbed to death on Thursday night. What a sad Thursday to Oluyole Warriors fans across the Earth,” the club tweeted on Thursday.
Balogun was appointed general manager of the Ibadan-based club in 2014.
He was formerly team manager of Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt and Sunshine Stars FC of Akure.
Chairman of Ibadan Football Association (IFA) Rotimi Alli broke the news of Balogun’s death on the 3SC WhatsApp platform.
“…We lost 3SC general manager few minutes ago. May the soul of our beloved Rasheed Balogun rest in peace and may Almighty Allah accept his soul into Aljanah,” he wrote.
Until his death, Balogun did not see any of the club’s premier league matches this season after their return to the league in 2021.
