Singer Simi has been forced to delete a popular slang by Davido ‘e choke’ from her congratulatory message to Wizkid and Burna Boy.
Wizkid and Burna Boy won big at the 2021 Grammys on Sunday. Congratulating them, Simi in a now-deleted tweet wrote “Starboy and Burna. E definitely choke!”
However, fans started trolling her for using Davido’s slang to congratulate the duo, owing to the sour relationship between Davido and Burna Boy.
In another tweet on Monday morning, Simi maintained that her use of the slang was not for ill intention.
“Loool FFS I LOVE David and I LOVE Wiz. I was celebrating the winners and used the slang just as a SLANG. A friend said to remove it cos fans thought it was shade and so I did. It didn’t even occur to me at all.
“WHAT WOULD BE THE POINT OF ME SHADING EITHER OF THEM?? To what end,” she wrote.
The ‘Duduke’ singer also retweeted the congratulatory message removing the slang.
Davido and Burna Boy had a brawl last year at a nightclub in Ghana which made the former threaten to quit music.
