Nigerian musician, Kelly Hansome, has blamed Governor Rochas Okorocha for the death of his grandmother following the recent demolition of the Eke Ukwu Market in Owerri.
The ‘Magga Don Pay’ singer made the allegation in a video clip he uploaded to Instagram on Wednesday.
According to him, his grandmother died from complications after her blood pressure rose abnormally after she heard the news of killings and destruction of the market.
“The fear created by the chaos and lives lost by the shootings raised her blood pressure too high,” he wrote, adding “this eventually resulted in a heart attack which the doctors tried to manage to no avail.
“Now she’s gone, never to return, what have I done to deserve this? So this what I get in return from the Imo State Government?”
The former Kennis Music artiste also sympathised with others who lost loved ones and properties to the demolition.
“To all those that have lost their loved ones or valuables or even both, please take heart.
“My comfort lies in one unchangeable fact, na God get power, till we meet again, rest in peace,” he wrote.
Among those who died during the demolition is 10-year-old Somtochukwu Ibeanusi who was hit by a bullet while helping his parents evacuate their goods.
The police have launched an investigation into the tragedies that occurred during the demolition, just as rights groups have demanded the resignation of Governor Rochas Okorocha over the irreparable losses.
