The Yoruba sector of the Nigerian movie industry has been thrown into mourning after the news of the death of Quadri Oyebamiji Tolani popularly known as Sisi Quadri surfaced on social media.
Sisi Quadri’s death was confirmed by Bolaji Amusan aka Mr Latin, the President of the Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAM) who posted the late actor on his Instagram page, with a short message, “Hmm may God grant him eternal rest”.
Some of the respondents to the news on some Nollywood platforms claim the actor had been battling kidney issues for some time and it may be the cause of his demise.
However, in a post shared by actor and comedian Akinyemi Olufemi, Quadri reportedly died after battling kidney disease.
The post read: “A comic nollywood actor TOLANI QUADRI OYEBAMIJI popularly known as SISI Quadri gave up the ghost in the early hours of today 1 of March 2024 at the age of 47.
“According to a private source, SisI Quadri was referred from an undisclosed private hospital in Iwo town of Osun state where he was said to be suffering from renal failure to the Accident and Emergency Unit (A&E) of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH) in ogbomoso.
“He was then diagnosed of Chronic Kidney Disease. Few minutes after receiving intensive care, He was pronounced Dead at the point of taking him for Dialysis. As we speak, his body has been received by his family members in preparation for his burial.
“The time of burial will be announced by his family.”
Quadri’s death coincides with the release date of his latest movie, Anikulapo: Rise of the Specter, where he played one of the three ghosts in the mystic epic series directed by Kunle Afolayan.
Sisi Quadri was a popular actor in mostly Yoruba epic films and renowned for his effeminate voice and gestures.
He was from Osun State but schooled in Ondo State
