Six more staff of a customer experience provider, iSON Xperiences, in Ibadan, Oyo State, have tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The six new cases were reported by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday night.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, tweeted on Wednesday confirming that the new cases were all staff of same company.
He wrote: “The COVID-19 confirmation tests for six suspected cases came back POSITIVE. All six cases are from the same organisation, iSON Xperiences in Ibadan South West Local Government Area. So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State is 143.”
“The company remains shut and will be decontaminated. The Emergency Operations Centre has continued intensive contact tracing to identify persons of interest linked to members of staff in the company,” Mr Makinde added.
Qed.ng had reported on Monday how 30 out of 31 coronavirus cases reported in Oyo State on Saturday, May 18 were all staff of iSON Xperiences.
At least 57 staff of the company have reportedly tested positive for coronavirus, the highest number recorded in a private firm in Nigeria.
The company provides services for two of the biggest telecommunications firms in Nigeria.
