Dotun Olaribigbe, the socialite popularly known as Lobito Disco, is dead.
Qed.ng learnt the founder of Haridot Promotions died on Thursday.
Entertainment promoter Bolaji Basia announced the death in a social media post.
“Rest well paddy mi Dotun Olaribigbe (Lobito),” Basia, known as the best friend of fuji music star K1 De Ultimate, wrote in tribute to the deceased.
Olaribigbe studied for his O’ Level at Lagos Baptist Academy before proceeding to Igbobi College for A’ Level.
He studied economics at the University of Lagos and was very active on the social scene in the 80s and 90s.
Juju singer Sir Shina Peters sang about him in his 1989 album Ace.
Olaribigbe contested the chairmanship of Surulere Local Government in 2017 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He also contested the 2019 senatorial election to represent Lagos Central at the National Assembly on the platform of the Liberation Movement Party.
Following his falling out with the APC, he became a fierce critic of the party, particularly its national leader Bola Tinubu who is the party’s candidate for the 2023 presidential election.
Olaribigbe was until his death the CEO of Bulls’ eye Security Solutions Ltd.
He died four days before his birthday July 11.
His wife Funmilola Olaribigbe celebrated her birthday on June 1.
