Police in Ondo have confirmed the death of businessman Sesan Adelabu, also known as Emirate, and his wife Bolu.
Spokesperson for the Command Funmilayo Odunlami said in a statement on Saturday that their bodies were found at the family’s residence in Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State.
Adelabu, an oil mogul, is believed to have taken his own life after killing his wife.
Odunlami said the state police commissioner Abayomi Oladipo had ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to begin an investigation into the matter.
The statement explained that the lifeless body of the deceased was discovered by the policeman attached to the deceased.

“The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Abayomi Oladipo, has ordered the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case of alleged murder and suicide of a socialite and petrol station owner, Mr Sesan Adelabu, popularly known as Emirate, and his wife, Mrs Bolu Adelabu,” the statement said.
“On the 9th of February, 2024, a distress call was received by the police of A’ Division Akure, by men of Special Protection Unit.
“The officer attached to the deceased in his house at Alagbaka area in Akure, received a call from the deceased child around 6pm asking after his father, because he was not picking his calls. The policeman, while trying to inform his principal, discovered him faced down and lifeless in the toilet while his wife’s body was found on the bed with multiple cuts suspected to be machete cuts on her head and face.
“An empty container of an insecticide was also found at the scene. Investigation has commenced to unravel the circumstances leading to the unfortunate incident and scene cordoned off to enable police to do the needful please.”
