Soldiers have taken over security at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) headquarters in Abuja after #EndSARS protesters stormed the bank on Sunday night.
The military also stationed soldiers at several strategic locations including the popular Aya roundabout early Monday morning.
#EndSARS campaigners who are demanding an end to police brutality have been carrying out protest in Abuja despite the ban on public demonstrations in the nation’s capital.
The move by the army comes after it announced it would kick off its operation themed ‘Crocodile Smile’ across the country on Tuesday.
“For the records, Exercise Crocodile Smile is a yearly exercise in the Nigerian Army calendar/forecast of events which traditionally holds from October to December of each year,” the army had said in a statement.
