The military on Monday kept bandits at bay who attempted to gain entrance into Faith Academy located at Mararaban Rido, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The bandits made attempts to attack the school owned by Bishop David Oyedepo following news that some students of Bethel Secondary School also in Kaduna had been kidnapped.
Reports say the gunmen broke part of the school’s fence to gain entrance around 1 am on Monday before soldiers foiled the attack.
A parent, whose son attends the school, told Daily Trust that the school management had last week instructed all students except those in SS3 preparing for their final exams to go home in the face of rising insecurity in the state.
The parent said adequate provision had been made to move the SS3 students to Barnawa in Kaduna South Local Government Area where they are expected to continue with their studies.
She commended security agents for their timely intervention, saying her son and others who were in the hostel during the attack are safe and have been evacuated from the school premises.
