President and founder of the Solid Rock Kingdom Church in Akwa Ibom State John Okoriko has been kidnapped.
Okoriko was taken captive on Tuesday evening when gunmen invaded the headquarters of the church in his village, Ibekwe Akpanya in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of the state.
The televangelist reportedly travelled home for a meeting with church members and community leaders when the incident occurred.
Members of the church and fans of the cleric have also taken to social media to announce his kidnap and pray for his safety.
National secretary of the church Bishop Linus Ukoenang told PREMIUM TIMES that the kidnappers contacted the family of the cleric Wednesday morning demanding a N100 million ransom.
Concerning the incident, police spokesman Odiko Macdon said, “We have received the report and the CP has ordered for an investigation to commence. As I speak, a lot has been done already, I want to believe that we will get to the root of it in no distant time.”
