Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akintola, has revealed that some actors live from hand to mouth.
The 93 Days actress disclosed this in an interview with punchng.com.
“Until actors start getting what is really due to them, such as royalties, the industry cannot be robust. In Nigeria, when you shoot a film, you only get whatever fee is paid; you don’t get royalties from subsequent monies that the movie makes.
“If we truly want positive and meaningful change, the industry has to be properly regulated. The truth is that people are living from hand to mouth. Lagos is not an inexpensive place to live,” she said.
Bimbo Akintola is one of the most successful actress in Nollywood history.
She came to fame after acting in Out of Bounds featuring Richard Mofe-Damijo in 1997.
Bimbo was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading role at the 2013 Nollywood Movies Awards.
