Super Eagles forward, Sone Aluko, began his Fulham career with a bang – netting in the 5-0 win over Preston North End on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old, who last week signed a two-year contract from Hull City, gave the Craven Cottage faithful a glimpse of what to expect with a stunning performance in the pre-season friendly.
Aluko notched the third goal of the game at Fota Island with few minutes left in the first-half.
Floyd Ayite chased a loosed ball which somehow found its way to Aluko inside the box who made no mistake as he drilled a bullet shot home past Preston goalkeeper, Anders Lindegaard.
His strike followed a beautiful assist which allowed Cauley Woodrow put the Cottagers in front before the youngster grabbed his brace moments later.
And Matt Smith’s second half double salvo guaranteed victory and clean slate for Slaviša Jokanović’s side.
Similarly, Super Eagles midfielder, John Ogu, was on target as his Israeli side, Hapoel Be’er Sheva, emerged 3-2 victors over FC Sheriff in the first leg UEFA Champions League qualification game on Tuesday.
Ogu scored one of his trademark stunners in the 43rd minute to draw the game level at 1-1.
“Thank God for the victory and my goal even as I am not looking sharp yet,” the left-footed midfielder wrote on Facebook.
“Working hard to be fit and super ready for the challenges ahead. Great way to start the season. Much work to be done in the 2nd leg. Great to see the fans again today!!.Yalla Beer sheva.”
