Farida Fasasi, wife of the late musician Olanrewaju Abdul-Ganiu Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan, along with their children has visited his gravesite.
Farida shared a video of their visit on Instagram which featured a bouquet, the gravesite, and moments with her children.
In the video, a card with the note “In memory, Sound Sultan, keep resting” is shown.
She captioned the post with a message, “May Allah ease your pain and grant you comfort. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” an Islamic phrase meaning “Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return.”
Sound Sultan, who passed away in 2021, was buried in New Jersey, US on the same day he died, in accordance with Muslim rites.
His family had announced his death in a statement signed by his relative, Kayode Fasasi.
The statement revealed that Sound Sultan had died after a prolonged battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL), a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
“He passed away at the age of 44 following a hard-fought battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma. He is survived by his wife, three children, and siblings.
“We, his family, would appreciate the utmost privacy as we come to grips with this tragic loss,” the family stated.
His brother, Baba Dee had also shared a post on Instagram at the time written in Arabic saying, “To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.”
Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL) is a rare and aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that affects the lymphatic system.
