Convener of RevolutionNow movement Omoyele Sowore on Friday penned a brief note on social media in celebration of his wife Opeyemi’s 50th birthday.
Mr Sowore posted a photo of Opeyemi on x and described her as his “darling wife”.
“Happy Birthday to my darling wife, Ope! She turned 50 today!” he wrote.

Mrs Sowore came to public view in 2019 when she began advocacy for Sowore to be released after the journalist and activist was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) on August 3, 2019 on charges of threat to national security including treasonable felony, cyberstalking and money laundering on December 6.
She has led several protests and discourses over the detention of her husband by the DSS including leading protesters to the United Nations Plaza in New York on September 24, 2019, advocating global intervention from Democracy Now and the US Senate into the release of Sowore.
