Publisher Omoyele Sowore on Thursday emerged the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC).
He also announced he was stepping down from his position as the party’s national chairman following requirements of the party’s constitution.
He said, “I stepped down for the purpose of today’s election. Constitution says if you’re aspirant and chairman you step down for the sake of the primary.”
Having stepped down as the national chairman, he presented himself as the aspirant and the delegates voted him in by shouting aye.
The publisher of Sahara Reporters said he would officially step down as chairman after the party’s national convention which would come up soon.
He said he had what it takes to lead the country to a better place having led ground-shaking protests and other events in Nigeria.
