Nobel laureate Prof Wole Soyinka on Wednesday paid a condolence visit to Joe Okei-Odumakin, widow of the late Afenifere spokesman Yinka Odumakin at their residence in Omole area of Lagos.
Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Dimeji Bankole and veteran broadcaster Bisi Olatilo also paid her a visit.
Soyinka described late Odumakin as a persistent and brave fighter.
Odumakin, 56, died last Friday after battling with respiratory problems occasioned by COVID-19 complications.
In the condolence register, Soyinka said: “Farewell to a doughy fighter”.
Bankole said late Odumakin struggled for human rights and lived till end.
“Thank you for everything and rest in peace,” he prayed.
Olatilo said: “Odumakin left the way strong people leave.”
Odumakin’s widow has been receiving well-wishers since her husband’s demise. A national leader of the All Progressives Congress Bola Tinubu, who was heavily criticised by the late Odumakin, paid a condolence visit on Tuesday.
