Controversial singer Darlington Achakpo popularly known as Speed Darlington has issued an apology to fellow musician Burna Boy following an incident that resulted in his detention.
Speed Darlington’s lawyer, Stan Alieke released a statement which has since made rounds on social media shortly after the singer’s release from custody.
The incident occurred after Burna Boy reportedly filed a petition against Speed Darlington which led to his detention.
Fans became concerned after noticing his absence and took to social media to express their worries.
In the statement, Alieke clarified that the controversial videos posted by Speed Darlington were meant purely for entertainment purposes and were not intended to defame or insult anyone.
He added that the controversial singer is known for his lighthearted content and that his remarks had been misinterpreted.
Addressing specific comments about Burna Boy’s mother, Alieke emphasised that Speed Darlington holds his mother in high regard and has no intention of showing disrespect.
He explained that the remarks had been taken out of context.
Alieke added that as a gesture of reconciliation, Speed Darlington personally reached out to Burna Boy and his team to clarify his intentions and offer an apology.
“Our client has privately reached out to his colleague and his team in the spirit of brotherhood, extending an olive branch and offering further clarification in person,” the statement concluded.
