Speed Darlington’s mother known simply as Queen has raised an alarm after he went missing, alleging that Afrobeats star Burna Boy and his team are responsible.
In a video shared on Tuesday, Queen revealed that her son’s gateman informed her that Speed Darlington was allegedly arrested by Burna Boy and his associates.
According to her this incident occurred after Darlington publicly questioned Burna Boy’s ties to American rapper and producer Diddy who is facing multiple charges in the US.
Visibly distressed, Queen pleaded for her son’s release, going on her knees to ask Burna Boy to “temper justice with mercy.”
She expressed her fears, stating that she lives outside Nigeria and is unable to intervene directly while her son remains in detention.
“Nigerians, please come to my aid. My son, Speed Darlington, has been missing for over four days now. This happened after he made a video about Burna Boy and Diddy.
“Burna Boy came to his house with his squad and police officers and they arrested Akpi.
“Akpi is my only son. Please, Nigerians, help me beg Burna Boy to release him,” she said.
Her plea follows the circulation of a video showing Speed Darlington in handcuffs, fueling concerns over his safety.
The controversy erupted after Speed Darlington mocked Burna Boy in a video, questioning his relationship with Diddy who had recently been arrested on serious charges including human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
His comments also raised questions about Burna Boy’s Grammy win for Twice As Tall, an album on which Diddy served as executive producer.
The singer insinuated that Burna Boy’s association with Diddy was questionable, leading some to speculate that this could have prompted his arrest.
