Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, have each claimed to have spoken with President Muhammadu Buhari who is on medical vacation in the United Kingdom.
Saraki disclosed that he spoke with the President in a message he posted on Twitter late Wednesday.
He said Buhari, who on Sunday wrote to the National Assembly to request an extension of his vacation, joked with him about working late into the night.
Happy to have spoken with @NGRPresident @MBuhari tonight.
He was in good spirits and joked about my working late into the night, as usual.— Bukola Saraki (@bukolasaraki) February 8, 2017
Not one to be left out of such display of importance, Dogara tweeted on Thursday that Buhari spoke to him on Wednesday evening too.
He said the President spoke about food security for all Nigerians and what the executive and legislature must do to achieve this.
“He said he was pained by the suffering endured by most Nigerians last year and he’s resolved not to let events of 2016 repeat themselves.
“He also asked me to extend his best wishes to all Hon Members.”
