Singer Spyro and music executive Ubi Franklin have clashed publicly over allegations of deceit involving Davido.
Spyro accused Franklin of using Davido’s name to mislead him into performing at an event, an accusation Franklin has strongly denied.
In an interview on the Echoo Room podcast, Spyro claimed Franklin invited him to perform at a birthday event, promising $5,000 and attributing the arrangement to Davido.
However, upon confronting Franklin, Spyro discovered that Davido was unaware of the supposed agreement.
Spyro narrated, “Ubi told me Davido wanted me to perform for $5,000. I confronted him and said I don’t charge that low; my minimum is N20 million.
“At the event, Davido was clueless about the arrangement. Ubi admitted later that Davido wasn’t involved. That’s daylight scam!”
In response, Franklin refuted the claims, describing them as baseless attempts to tarnish his reputation.
He alleged that Spyro owes him N10.5 million as a 10% commission for helping him purchase a car. Franklin suggested offsetting the amount with the $5,000 in question.
Franklin said, “Why would I tell Davido’s friend something like that when he has direct access to him? It doesn’t make sense. Spyro owes me 10% from a car deal. If we do the math, he still owes me N2.5 million after deducting the $5,000 I hold for him.”
Spyro countered by sharing screenshots of conversations with Franklin as evidence, intensifying the feud.
The dispute follows Spyro’s earlier public warning to colleagues about unpaid debts.
In November 2024, the singer criticised defaulters for their nonchalance and threatened to expose those who failed to pay.
