St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos has debunked rumour that the corpse of an #EndSARS protester was found at its mortuary.
It was rumoured on social media on Sunday that the corpse of a man named Folorunsho Olabisi was found by his relatives with three bullet wounds at the hospital’s mortuary.
Mr Olabisi was rumoured to be part of the #EndSARS protesters shot by men in military uniform at Lekki toll gate on October 20.
But the hospital said although it symphatises with victims of the incident, Olabisi was never presented at its facilities.
The hospital also said it had no mortuary in the first place.
“St. Nicholas Hospital fully identify with the current situation and our sympathy is with the victims of the unfortunate incident. However, false information, especially at this critical times, should not be encouraged,” the hospital said in a statement posted on Twitter.
“Please note that the said victim never presented at any of St. Nicholas Hospital facilities. Also, St. Nicholas Hospital does not have a mortuary, hence this news is false and should not be encouraged to trend further.”
It was also rumoured that Olabisi would be buried on Sunday at the Ikoyi cemetery in a strictly family affair.
The number of casualties at the Lekki shooting has been disputed till date.
