Education sector stakeholders in Ekiti have lauded Governor Biodun Oyebanji on the renovation and upliftment of basic standards in secondary schools under the Ekiti State Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), a World Bank-assisted project.
The stakeholders spoke at a consultative forum and town hall meeting organised by AGILE under the Ministry of Education which was held at Omuo Comprehensive High School, Omuo Ekiti on Wednesday.
G.O. Oso, a representative of parents, thanked those at AGILE and Ekiti State Government for their efforts. A student from Ekamefa Comprehensive Commercial School urged fellow students to exhibit good behaviour to encourage AGILE to do more.
Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Education Michael Omolayo, in his remarks at the event, explained the meeting’s objective, emphasising the governor’s commitment to providing necessary support. He also solicited continuous feedback on AGILE programmes and other government activities aimed at boosting the education sector.
Permanent secretary at TESCOM Boluwade Michael urged students and parents to participate actively, as the meeting concerned their well-being.
Transition committee chairman (South) Femi Ogungbamigbe highlighted Oyebanji’s initiatives and AGILE’s impact towards improved school enrolment.
Dignitaries including the Odofin of Oludofin, Osanyinlusi Olugbenga, and the Chief Imam of Omuo delivered goodwill messages, emphasising the importance of education development and parental involvement.
Programmes coordinator, Ekiti State AGILE Yewande Adesuwa presented project documentaries, highlighting beneficiary schools and renovation/digitisation efforts across the 16 local government areas of the state.
She urged the stakeholders to own the projects and ensure that the development reflects positively in the results of students henceforth.
Representatives from SBMC and principals of 11 Ekiti East Local Government Area schools shared updates on fund management and project implementation in their various schools.
