Actress Stella Damasus has marked the 20th anniversary of her ex-husband Jaiye Aboderin’s death by visiting his grave with their daughters, Angelica and Isabel.
The emotional moment was shared on Stella’s Instagram page on Tuesday, accompanied by a message of gratitude.
“Exactly 20 years ago today my husband JAIYE ABODERIN passed away. 20 years later with his children grown enough to honor his legacy in the same place, we went back there,” she wrote.
Reflecting on the experience, the actress added, “It was not easy to get through this but I am grateful to God for strength.
“Special thanks to my family and friends who joined us and those who couldn’t make it but prayed and called. It is well with us. Jaiye is forever in our hearts. May his soul continue to rest in peace.”
The video accompanying the post showed Stella and her daughters paying emotional tributes, struggling to hold back tears.
Singer Wunmi Obe, Jaiye’s sister, also penned a touching tribute in his memory.
Jaiye Aboderin, a talented musician and businessman, died of a heart attack in December 2004 during a basketball game.
Stella remarried in 2007 to Emeka Nzeribe, but the union ended after seven months.
She later began a relationship with filmmaker Daniel Ademinokan in 2011, marrying him in 2014.
However, the couple separated in 2020 and finalised their divorce.
