Actress Rita Edochie has clapped back at critics attacking May Edochie for not publicly commemorating her late son Kambili’s posthumous birthday.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, Rita expressed her disappointment with what she termed the hypocrisy of online trolls and bloggers.
She pointed out that when Yul Edochie, Kambili’s father, chose to mourn privately after their son’s passing, people defended his decision, but now the same critics are attacking May for her approach.
“When Kambili, my great genius of a son, passed on, his dear father mourned in his own way,” she wrote.
“He later returned to social media, and you all defended him, saying a man of 40 years and above must not be told how to mourn. Now, you want to dictate to Queen May how to grieve for her own flesh and blood?”
Rita emphasised that May chose to stay offline on the remembrance day of her son, a decision critics overlooked in their rush to judge. “On the day Kambili was remembered, Queen May was absent from the media space. She didn’t post or stay active,” Rita noted.
She also called out the “jobless posters” who she accused of spreading negativity, warning them that their actions wouldn’t go unchecked forever.
The posthumous birthday of Kambili, who passed away on March 20, 2023, after collapsing during a football game at school, was also marked by Yul Edochie.
On January 4, Yul shared a heartfelt message on Facebook, expressing his love and saying he misses his late son deeply.
