The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State Wednesday denied any plan to disrupt the gubernatorial declaration of former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala billed for Ibadan Thursday, September 4, describing the allegation as baseless and unfounded.
Reacting to a statement issued by a group known as Southern Nigerian Youth Forum (SNYF) wherein it was alleged that Governor Abiola Ajimobi and the ruling party (APC) in the state had perfected plans to storm the venue of Alao-Akala declaration with some political thugs and disrupt the event, the Oyo State APC’s Director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, faulted the group’s claim and described as a false alarm coming from the camp of some noise makers who had been rejected by the people.
“It cost the present APC administration led by Sen. Abiola Ajimobi to cleanse the Augean’s Stables left by the immediate past government of Alao-Akala and the PDP. The whole world cannot forget in a hurry how the same Akala and his former boss turned Oyo State into a theatre of war for eight years of PDP rule.
“The APC which is today popular for its ability to restore peace, tranquillity and discipline in every sector of the society as far as Oyo State is concerned cannot, for any reason, encourage violence, social disorder and political brigandage again but rather collaborate with every patriotic citizen to sustain the prevailing atmosphere of peace and orderliness.
“However, we would like to use this opportunity to warn some disgruntled political players as well as their supporters with criminal tendencies to think twice and do away with their plans to unleash another round of violence and political terror on the people of the state in the quest to contest and win at all cost as the 2015 general elections approach.” APC stated.
