Shifi Emoefe and Zeal Onyecheme, the remaining members of R&B group, Styl-Plus, on Monday released a new single titled ‘Aso Ibora’, the Yoruba word for blanket.

It was produced by Blaq Jerzee, mixed and mastered by Zenno Foster with guitar strings by Fiokee.

In Zeal‘s words, the song “tells the story of an everyday person who is appreciative of the love shown to him/her.”

He added that “this song is also a message to Styl-Plus fans to thank them for their support through the years.”

Style-Plus began as a four-man band in 1997 with Shifi, Tunde Akinsanmi, Yemi Akinwonmi, and Lanre Faneyi forming the name STYL coined from an abbreviation of their first names.

Lanre died in 1998 and Zeal Onyecheme joined the group which led to the name Styl-Plus, denoting the new addition to the group.

Yemi finally left in 2002, a year before the group released the monster hit, ‘Olufunmi’.

They released other singles like ‘Runaway’ and ‘Call My Name’ before launching their official debut album, Expressions, in 2006 to mild success.

The group released a song, ‘Alive’, featuring rapper, Sunky, in 2012.

Tunde has gone solo, leaving Shifi and Zeal behind.

Styl-Plus is currently signed to Eskimo Records.
